For the coming weekend we are invited for the symposium and workshop Bürger Gesellschaft Gestaltung at the FH Würzburg-Schweinfurt Design Department. Within the framework of a social design event, it should be discussed how design and its protagonists can contribute to the topic of city development.
For municipalities the wealth of inhabitants with all different expectations and needs can be an enormous challenge. They have to develop functioning concepts for urban requirements and convince all participants with comprehensive communication. For this purpose, some cities increasingly rely on impulses coming from the creative scene. Teams across all disciplines meet up in think tanks set up for this purpose and shall be responsible for unconventional approaches.
At the symposium, which will be held on the 16th of May, some already existing think tanks will be introduced. In this context the role of social design will be also examined and discussed. Based on this, initial workshops take place as a kind of small think tank for Würzburg at the 17th of May. With regard to a real case, possible solutions are to be found to illustrate the work methods and thinking of designers.
We will lead one of these workshops and are convinced that the interdisciplinary approach is the best choice.
